The homestay民宿
Huanghuang Village was once called "Stone Village" — the land was poor and the rocks were not. Lavender changed everything, and today the fields run to the horizon in every direction. 晃晃村原名"石头村",地薄石多。是薰衣草改变了这一切,如今推门出去,紫色花田四面八方一直铺到天边。
Simu Garden is a small, quiet house with a garden at its centre: courtyard rooms, a stargazing loft, and a little timber cabin next door. We keep it simple and warm — good beds, hot water, home cooking, and a kettle that is always on. 肆沐花园是一座安静的小院,花园在中间:庭院房、能看星空的房间,隔壁还有一栋小木屋。我们把它做得简单而温暖——床舒服、热水稳定、饭是家里做的,水壶永远烧着。
China's lavender capital中国薰衣草之乡
Huocheng is the earliest and largest lavender-growing area in China — over 20,000 mu of it, which is why people call this corner of Ili "the Provence of the East". 霍城是全国最早种植、也是面积最大的薰衣草基地,两万余亩。人们把伊犁的这一角叫作"东方普罗旺斯"。
Mid to late June the valley goes violet almost overnight. The Lavender Festival is held every June.6月中下旬,几乎一夜之间山谷转紫。每年6月举办薰衣草旅游节。
The fullest colour of the year, and harvest begins. Book two months ahead — this is when the village fills up.全年颜色最饱和的时段,也是收割季。务必提前两个月订房,整个村子都会满。

Past the last lavender field, the road turns into the Guozigou valley and the hills open out. This is the Never-Setting Sun Ranch — our own piece of grassland, seven kilometres from the guesthouse, where in summer the light stays gold until nearly ten at night. There are horses to ride, a fire pit, an outdoor kitchen, a paddock of very opinionated animals, and a ridge for watching the sun go down. 过了最后一片花田,路拐进果子沟,山势豁然打开。这里就是日不落牧场——离民宿七公里,夏天到晚上快十点天还亮着。有马可骑,有火塘,有露天灶台,有一圈脾气不小的动物,还有一道看日落的山脊。

Our horses are working horses with steady temperaments — no experience needed. A guide rides with you up the ridge and into the valley.我们的马是干活的马,性子稳,零基础也能骑。有向导陪同,带你沿山脊进山谷。
02 — Cook02 — 下厨
An outdoor stove, a pile of vegetables from the garden, and no rules. Someone always ends up burning the naan, and that's the point.露天灶台、从菜园里刚拔的菜,没有规矩。总有人把馕烤糊,这才是乐趣所在。
03 — Meet the animals03 — 动物
Lambs, calves, chickens, and a dog who believes he is in charge. Children are welcome to help with the morning round.小羊、小牛、鸡,还有一只自以为管事的狗。小朋友可以跟着一起喂早上的第一轮。
04 — Evening04 — 夜晚
Wood, fire, music, and neighbours who drop in. When the embers settle the stars come out properly — there is almost no light pollution here.柴火、火堆、音乐,还有过来串门的邻居。火熄下去的时候星空才真正打开——这里几乎没有光污染。
05 — Slow afternoons05 — 花田午后
A table carried out between the rows, a pot of tea, and the whole afternoon to do nothing in. Bring a book or a camera.把桌子搬到花垄中间,一壶茶,一整个下午什么都不干。带本书,或者带相机。

The ranch and the fields are ours to use. We've hosted small weddings, proposals and anniversaries — flowers, fire, a long table and a sky with nothing else in it.牧场和花田都是自家的。我们办过小型婚礼、求婚和纪念日——花、火、长桌,以及一片干净得什么都没有的天空。

The sun is fierce — bring sunscreen and a hat, and pack a jacket because nights are cold even in July. Mobile payments work well here; keep a little cash for the ranch. And please walk between the rows, never on the flowers. 紫外线很强,防晒霜、帽子、防晒衣备齐;七月夜里也冷,一定带件外套。这里手机支付很方便,去牧场可以备一点现金。看花请走田埂,别踩花。
